Please visit my DA gallery for photography and non-fantasy stuff I've got going on. You can also find my photo print gallery there. Seriously, it's where you'll find me most of the time, now. I just do so much more than fantasy/sci-fi art, I needed the breathing room. Don't get me wrong, I will always love Elfwood for all that it has done and brought me. I just won't be updating here all that often anymore. I just don't have time.
I work in the Arts & Culture sector and moonlight as an illustrator/photographer with aspirations of greatness. I do graphic design and communications contracts, and can be seen at Toronto-area conventions hawking my wares. I also did storyboards for the awesome fanfilm, Star Wars Revelations. My influences include many of the great movements and artists of history (ancient Classical sculpture, Carravagio, the Netherlandish masters, Degas, Mucha, Munch and many, many more) as well as BROM, FROUD, and DONATO, three of the best fantasy/sci-fi artists working in the industry today.
If you are interested in purchasing an original, reproduction, or commissioning me, please EMAIL me.

Guestbook for Mirsch
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 15 May 2004 | Iris Ayers | Your faces have so much character and detail. Something I can NEVER do right! Haha. Anywho
Your shading with colors is awesome, and just your pencil shading all together. Fantastic job! *uhem*
*bookmarks* ^_^ Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thank you very much ! I'm a big fan of faces (and the figure) as a face's expression is what tells the story. " | |
| 17 May 2004 | Oliver Jöhnk | Hi Maya, it's a long time since my last visit and I see your gallery grew a lot. And not only this! It's great that you show now some sculpting yourself and your work in this respect is great. I have to visit more often to check for new sculptings. Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thanks for coming by, but don't check for a little while. I've been suffering terrible artists' block and haven't done much of any art. " | |
| 27 May 2004 | Daniel L. Bergkvist | Just want to say that I appreciated your gallery. You have a spread of things that is refreshing and show versatility. And I just love the Flying Fat Cats.. eh, Whumpi I mean Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thank you very much ! I appreciate being complimented on being varied - so many people think a person has to have a "style"." | |
| 13 Aug 2004 | L.Z. ´Seyrah´ Draegeth | Hi Maya; I really like your gallery! You seem to dabble in all sorts of things, and it looks like you really have fun with them. Your figures are very good, and you seem to share my habit of taking delight in the little widgets and doodads that the characters have arrayed about them. You have a great gift for portraying expression and personality in your faces, very simply. Your gallery is definitely one to keep tabs on. Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thanks very much, Seyrah ! I enjoy dabbling and try to avoid being tied down. As for the details and facial expressions, they are what I feel make up a good illustration, especially the expression. After all, an illustration is telling a story, right? Right. Thanks for stopping in." | |
| 17 Jan 2005 | Eleanor Michalka | I love your gallery! It's so beautiful. I hope to become an accomplished artist like you one day. Thanks for letting all of us see your works! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "You're nuts, right? Accomplished artist? Me? BWAHAHAHA. *cough* No, seriously, your gallery boasts some fine work in it, too." | |
| 19 Jun 2005 | Kingmisha | Your illustrations are varied in theme and subject but there is a very definate style. Your not a dabbler as has been suggested, but a true illustrator. I've followed your work for a very long time and the growth in your ability is substantial. What is emerging now, is an ability to convey mood. Any artist block that you may be experiencing, may mean you're on the verge of something. A new and deeper awareness preparing to break through. Congratulations on this gallery (smiling-much nochas)! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Awww, shucks. And thanks." | |
| 28 Dec 2005 | Lil_nicky0016 | You really capture how big wemon can be beautiful! Thanks for showin everyone that perspective! Toodles! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "I don't think of them as big - more like 'normal'. Or 'real'. Anyway, you're welcome !" | |
